Easter on the Island

Easter has come and gone now but it was a very important event for all Greeks and many return to their home villages. Hence the sleepy village was full of cars and fireworks. It was a wonderful experience for us to join the evening candlelit procession through the village from church to church on Good Friday (Megalo Paraskevi). On midnight on Saturday we joined our neighbours at the main church for the giant bonfire (as big as the church itself) with Judas atop and the fireworks. We were invited by a neighbour for the traditional Easter soup and lamb that ends Lent.
